HELP!!! I have 3 toilets in my house and they all started on the same day to run for about 5-10 seconds every 1/2 and hour or so. The only thing that has changes is my girlfriend placed one of those white tablet bleach smelling things into the tank where the flapper and float are. What could be the problem and why would they all start at the same time? HELP!!!

Terribly confused homeowner.

You just answered your own question, bleach tablets will do a number to unprotected rubber flappers, install new flapper and remove those tablets. If you are going to use the tablets get the treated flappers that will resist chemicals, there red in color, and made by Korky. I have seen those tablets change the color of these flappers, so you get an idea how strong those tablets can be.

Remove one of the old flappers and see how it comes off of there, there easy to figure out, most will attach to the ears on the side of the center flush valve, then just ajust the chain, where there is a tiny bit of slack between the handle and the flapper.

Then it's possible the fill tube that runs to the overflow tube from the fill valve, if it's below the full water level of the tank, it will siphon the tank water out, causing the fill valve to cycle on and off all the time.
