RUNNING WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#1

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!I cannot shut the water off in the shower. It is a pull on/off handle. Everytime I push it in, it pops back out. I even took the handle off & tried to shut it off using pliers, still no luck. I see no visible washers or even shut off valves to the shower stall itself, so I have to go down to the basement and shut the water off to the whole house. Please can you help or send me to a site that can give me visible, detailed info on how to fix this problem?

Sounds like a moen valve, you need to replace the cartiage, shut water off to house, remove handle and metal center piece, you should see a horseshoe clip that holds the cartiage in place, remove this and take channel locks to pull the cartiage out, take it to Home Depot and get a new cartiage for it, install the new one and turn water back on, this should fix it.

The house is 21 yrs. old. I'm not sure it is a MOEN product. I did take the handle off,and the casing that covers the hole in the wall to the faucet. There is a stem that sticks out of this circular item. Is that where the pin is?(in the cirular item?)My neighbor told me that there should be a screw holding the stem in place, but I cannot find a screw and there is no access door to get behind the pipes in the shower. I even removed my sink and vanity to find the access door and there is none. I'm going crazy!!!!!!!!!!!

Listen to Plumber 2000. Shut the water off and remove the cartridge. Take the old cartridge to Home Depot and get a replacement for it. Just hope that WHATEVER brand of valve you have is a common one and that you can get a replacement cartridge for it. The alternative is to replace the entire valve, and you probably don't want to go THERE!!

I found the pin and removed it, but I don't have a set of channel locks, will someother tool work? I also discovered that it is a moen. I will let you know what happens. Thank you and sorry for not listening sooner.
