I have a fairly new (under 2 years)hot water heater which works very well. About 2 weeks ago I noticed that the over flow pipe outside my patio was leaking hot water.
I tried opening and closing the pressure valve on the Heater. This seemed to stop the leaking but 2 days later it was back and now it will not stop. I estimate the water loss from the leak to be about 15 gallons per day. Does the valve need replacing and if so, where can I find DYI information on this type of repair?

Cool

I'm not a plumber, but you need to:
A. Turn off power to water heater in panel.
B. Turn off water to water heater at cold water supply valve on top of heater.
C. Hook hose to bottom spigot, drain off pressure.
D. Replace the pressure valve. Wrap 2-3 (clockwise ONLY)wraps of teflon tape around valve threads.
E. Refill water heater until air is out of tank and open hot water faucet.

Good Luck!
