Toilet flush then loud noise inside walls/vibration
#1

I have 3 commodes in my 3 year old house. The one in the master bedroom on the second floor has been trouble from the start. It has constantly clogged. The latest is when you flush it, about 30 seconds later a loud noise along with extreme vibration over by the tub. This last about 5 seconds but it shakes a whole section of the house. This is the second time this has happened. The first time a friend told us to bend the arm in the tank down and I went out to the street and turned off the water there then flushed the toilets or something. I can't quite remember it all. This was about 2-3 months ago. The noise sounds/feels like a refrigerator sized pager on vibrate. The first time it happened it would do the noise about every ten minutes even without anyone flushing the toilet. I have seen a couple posts about noise but I don't think I saw this exact one.
My wife called a plumber today and he said it sounded like a bad valve and he could fix for $100.

Well you could install a new fill valve and see if that will solve the noise, or it could be a loose washer in the shut off valve by the toilet.
If the fill valve does not solve it, replace the shut off valve and see if that solves it.

I purchased the fill valve. Just for grins I tried bending the arm with the ball attached upwards. Whatta ya know the noise stopped. The last time I had the noise I think I bent it downward. Go figure.
I was just about to install the fill valve when I tried this. I returned the fill valve since this worked.
