Moved into a house, 13 years old, no visible indications it ever had any water damage or leak in the cellar.
The sump pump is on the outside wall next to the door leading outside. The well is 14" diameter, and about 2' deep.
My problem: the pump seems to cycle every 10 to 15 minutes, and then it bangs 2 or 3 times before it shuts off and resets.
Question (1) - Is this pump set too deep into the well?? Meaning, maybe it's set below the normal high-water level for this area??
(2) - I think the "bang" is from the check-valve mounted about 3' up from the pump, apparently a ball that'll drop to keep the motor and bottom half of the discharge tube wetted. Why would this bang?? Is it failing to seat??
Any ideas to troubleshoot this would be great. For the mean time I added a high-water alarm and now that the boat is out of the water, I may add a std boat bilge pump w/ auto switch as a backup [to a 12VDC battery on a trickle charge].
Thanks in advance!!
when we flush toilet,we hear gurgling noises at the washing machine.we also have occasional backup of water at shower.is this a vent pipe prob or a main drain prob?..should i call a plumber or roto rooter?....thanks for help
