sink stopper won't lift up.

our sink stopper is evidently broken. the sink is full of water and the stopper won't work. How do i get it out of the bottom of the sink?

I assume you are talking about the sink in your bathroom. The pop-up valve is connected by a couple of rods to the knob that you lift to close the valve and push down to open it. It could be that the connection between the 2 vertical rods has loosened. Usually a thumb screw there to tighten. Or it could be that the pop-up valve has come off of the horizontal rod inside the drain. Access that thru the back of the drain pipe, where the rod goes into the drain, and put the rod back in the sloted hole on the bottom of the pop-up valve.
