InSinkerator won't drain unless activated...

Hi,

I have a strange problem. My garbage disposal works fine, but my sink won't drain unless the garbage disposal is running, and then it drains fine. Any ideas?

We've tried chemicals, snaking the drain, and plunging (it's a single sink). It doesn't seem to be clogged, as it will drain if we run the disposal. Can't figure this one out. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It's not clogged, it's just that the vent stack is further down the line. Mine acts the same way most of the time.

Stuck with it?

Thanks for the reply, Mark. Can it be fixed, or am I stuck with it? It makes it very difficult to keep the sink clean, and it's very loud to continuously run the disposal.
