Delta shower faucet

Delta shower faucet

I have an old delta shower faucet. When I push the button to turn on shower alot of water keeps running from spout. How do I fix?

what button and where is it located?

the faucet is a single handle, directly below it is a button which directs the water to the shower head. When I push it the shower turns on but alot of water still pours out of the spout.

You need to replace the "diverter" ... cost is about $20 ... simple repair, just unscrew the old one with an adjustable wrench, clean out the hole, screw in the new one.
