Adding laundry room to basement

Hey guys,

Here is a diagram of a proposed laundry room addition in my basement. The black lines are existing and the blue is what it proposed. I think the picture explains everything, but if not please ask. Does this look like a good plan? My main concern is draining the proposed 2" laundry room branch into the 3" soil stack under the 1st floor toilet; is this okay? Thanks.

Codes tend to vary from area to area. You will need to submit your plans to the local building inspector for approval before a permit can be issued. There will be required inspections, including electrical and plumbing.

Yes, I understand that -- I'm wondering if my plan is consistent with common practice and typical codes.

Looks good to me. It's pretty close to what I just installed (and passed inspection).

The horizontal branches should be Wyes. The vertical branch to the sink can be a combo wye or a san tee. Also, the 90deg after the sink should be a long sweep. (almost learned that the hard way).

I'm not sure if the washer can be wet-vented. That's a bit outside my knowledge...

Hope this helps a bit

the way he has it the washer is fine. you just have to make sure the sink trap is protected from the washer. the washer trap doesnt have anything to worry about from the sink draining.

i am a bit confused on what you mean by a wy 1/4 bend (combination) can be used in vertical to k-sink. you can not use a combo to go from vertical to horizontal only from horizontal to horizontal and horizontal to vertical by every code i know of

You're correct - I misspoke. (and now I can't seem to figure out how to edit my prior post). Thanks for catching that!
