Caspers Industries shower drain leaking

Hi, We notice shower water staining the ceiling. We are afraid to cut open the ceiling open as it'll be too much work to repair the ceiling back to it original looking stucco spray. Is there any way to repair the leak while lining it with something from the shower tub drain itself?

On the drain, it says ABS IAMPO No. 101 - PS. US Patent no. 4730854. It says use glue only. Warning: Do not use oil base sealant or overheat caulking material or overtighten lock nut. May cause drain to break or destroy.

Search for Caspers Industries Inc in Oakland California came negative

The house is about 14 years old.

Thanks a bunch for your help

Hi!

I this a tiled shower base? If so, you could have worse problems then just the drain. I don't know how you would fix a leaking drain without having access to it......

what kind of shower base do you have? there are drains for acrylic bases that you may be abe to install without removal of the ceiling but what does it matter when you need to replace the ruined sheetrock and dry it out before mold sets in?

pictures would help us give you more accurate answers
