can cast iron pipe be smoothed somehow till ground thaws

The cast iron main drain from toilet to septic is old and rough and keeps causing clogs due to paper catching on flaking surface-at least that is what our septic guy surmises after we just had it snaked 10 days ago, and it is clogged again. The vent pipe Y is in backwards so they have to pull the toilet and snake from there. Obviously living in Michigan and being February, the optimal solution of digging up and replacing the pipe with PVC is difficult. Is there a way to smooth the cast iron or something until warmer weather to replace it?

what does a vent have to do with cleaning a yard line? your problem is they have to go in through the toilet drain so they can not get the correct size cable or blade into the line to properly clean it. if something is installed backwards and that means they cant clean the main line then the backwards piece is most likely causing the problem. get it fixed to where you dont have to pull the toilet to clean the drain and all will be well
