Kohler tub stopper replacement

I have a Kohler tub stopper that has a segmented brass (?)stem. It has 6 pieces that pivot under the stopper with an overall length of about 13 inches. The 4th piece down has a very gentle "U" shape to it. The last piece is shaped a little like a "T". The stopper is all the way out of the drain. How do I get it back in?

Kohler

Oops. Thanks. I got it by just working the segments back in the drain. The up-down flap on the tub works fine now.
