black pipe natural gas

why can't you buy black pipe in long sections of 3/8 dia.

Why can't you? I don't know. My question is why would you want to? 3/8" pipe isn't going to be able to supply anything over a distance.

Any appliance running off of natural gas I wouldn't put in a piece of 3/8 over 4 inches. That's only when I would need to connect to a gas control that size.

as mentioned it would not supply enough gas. gas pipe is sized and installed for the volume needed not the pressure since most applinces operate with less than a pound of pressure but use a large volume.

more pressure does not equal more volume but with out the volume needed pressure means nothing.

think of a shower. installing smaller pipes will increase the pressure to the valve but without the volume you will have weak water pressure when you turn the valve on to take a shower
