poly-b to pex transition

I wish to transition from poly-b to pex in half inch line. I have transition fittings, and my question is---I use the Sur-Lock ratchet type compression rings, and would like to know if they are acceptable and can be used on the Poly-b plastic line, or do I have to use the copper compression rings. I have been getting yes and no and before I cut lines and start I would like to know for sure. Tks. Rewind.

Polybutylene and pex both have the same OD. It is the ID that is different. Have never used the ratchet system, but if it works on the pex it should work on the poly-b. The only "approved" connection is the copper compression rings and compression tool, so there may be more input needed from others on the ratcheting system. They'll be along soon.

By the ratcheting system, do you mean stainless steel cinch rings? Those are what I use and love them. I have used the copper rings and the cinch rings both and love the cinch rings. Much easier to work with. One handed ratcheting tool is great.

Both those tools ar a low tolerance tool and are set for certain specs. I am not quite sure, if the OD of the pipe is smaller than regular water PEX, you may not get the rings tight enough for specs. I would call the manufacurer of the tool or the pipe to get a proper answer for this. If you just take a chance and it is not approved, you will be held liable.
