neoprene sleeve?

the connection under my bathroom sink where my trap meets the pipe leading up to the drain has broken. More specifically the tightening collar has split. I was thinking the easiest way to fix this just to remove the collar and to slip a neoprene sleeve over both ends and tighten with clamps (Although looking at my local hardware store today they had no such sleeves in stock) Any other ideas?

You will probably be better off buying the entire kit and replacing the ptrap assembly with all new parts. Too easy, too cheap and it will last longer. Once parts begin to fail, they all start leaking.
