Pipe Dope question

Any one use Megaloc pipe dope? I picked it up from the pluming supply where I got my pipe cut. I decided to move around the pipe i put together the other day so I had to take a fitting back off. I expected to find some of the pipe dope in the root of the thread, but it looked like the thread was clean. Then I re-assembled everything and started pressure testing at 10 psi. When I started filling the line I noticed that one of the fittings had a few bubbles in the pipe dope. By the time it was full it had stopped. I checked the fitting with soapy water but no leak was noticed. The line hasn’t lost pressure either and it has been pressurized for over an hour now. Is this normal or should I be using a different pipe dope? I don’t remember pipe dope having all this hair stuff in it that this stuff has.

I never paid attention to the brands. Hercules seems to be what I ususally have. There weren't any user reviews but Megaloc was mentioned in one thread. As one person mentioned, some people use teflon tape with pipe dope. I've done that too.

megloc is what i use exclusively and have for the past 10 years. it is a teflon based pipe sealant, meaning it has some of the same properties of teflon tape. it works great although i cant afford to be putting pipes together twice so i use a couple wraps of tape followed by a dab of paste and havent ever had a leak that way. i have had a few leaks using just paste or just tape.
