Angry Stuck Water Aerator in Faucet.

I have a severely cross threaded water aerator in the bathroom faucet which I am trying to remove and am having little luck with. I tried lubricating it and using pliers with no luck. The more I try to remove it, the more cross it becomes. I don't care about the aerator but do not want to destroy the faucet or the faucet threads. Does anybody have any suggestions for removing the aerator.

It's fairly likely the threads on the faucet are damaged.

Since the aerator is not salvageable I'd try a big set of vise grips.

Once you get if off try a new aerator on it and if it gives you any significant resistance, the damage is enough to probably warrant replacement.

Faucets are chrome plated brass and that is fairly soft metal.Aerators come in various threads, some more common than others,so try the common size first then go from there. As far as I know there is no way to rethread a faucet.

Thanks for you response spdavid. I am thinking about leaving it as is for now since I do not want to replace the entire faucet now and this is in a bathroom that we do not use often.
