PVC Cement on ABS DWV Pipe

I was in a situation where I only had PVC cement available and I used it to join a couple of sections of ABS DWV pipe. I needed to get the drain functioning.

Should I replace the section or will the PVC glue hold up?

Thanks

Plan on replacing the section, and THIS time have the right stuff on hand before you start.

ABS pipe needs ABS cement. PVC cement will probably work initially, but it won't weld the ABS well enough to keep it from leaking forever (which is about the half-life for ABS!!).

Thumbs down PVC Cement

lefty: is correct, some areas also ban the use of universal cement due to the joints comming apart.

One further comment, if you are joining ABS to PVC, there is a specific glue for that application.
