Pipe broken off in mating pipe

The male threaded portion of the shower head pipe is broken off in the female portion of the galvanized pipe elbow in the wall. How can I get the broken off portion turned out so I can install a new pipe? Thanks.

Maybe. They make a internal pipe wrench. That should work but I usually end up breaking the internal pipe wrench with out getting the pipe out. Never tried it but I would suggest a large easy out. The plumbers may have a better suggestion so wait for them.

Repairing exterior faucet

I have been trying to repair a leaky 25-year-old exterior faucet, searched online and visited the hardware store, but haven't found quite the advice I need so any help will be greatly appreciated. I have removed the internal rod from what I believe it called the 'sillcock' faucet. I was hoping to replace a washer or other part; however, there was no washer on the old part I removed, and the hardware store had no replaceable parts but told me I should replace the entire assembly. SO, since the replacement pipes are all threaded, I tried to turn the existing pipe/faucet to unscrew it. Instead, it bent about 1/8 of a turn.... and I didn't want to force a break within the floor/walls of my house, so I just put it all together and gave up. Any suggestions??????????Read More

Washing machine drain causing sewer smell

What’s the most effective way of preventing sewer gases from coming through a washing machine drain? In the basement I have a horizontal PVC T-pipe that connects the vertical main stack to the septic system. The top of the horizontal T-pipe has a screw-on fitting (unsure of the type) with my washing machine drain attached to it (no trap at all). It looks similar to this ([url]http://repair2000.com/drain.gif[/url]) but the vertical pipe is really a T-pipe. When I flush the toilet on the first floor, sewer gasses emanate from the main stack. I suspect they are coming from the washing machine drain. Should there be some sort of trap between the washing machine drain and the T-pipe?Read More
