Sweat pipe corrosion? concern

I noticed this on the hot water return to my gas boiler. Is this a concern? (see image)

Is there any way I should treat or clean it? The furnace was just installed maybe 5 years ago.

thanks for your feedback

My guess is that the installer didn't wipe off the excess flux after soldering the joint. It won't hurt anything but you can wipe off what you can & even use steel wool or sandpaper if you want.

Thanks for the reply Brad. My only concern is that I don't believe that was there a few months ago. is that a worry?

Once copper gets a patina (fancy word for corrosion) on the surface it ceases to oxidize any further. But like Brad had said, a chemical on the surface has caused the corrosion to accelerate.

It's not something that will compromise an already good connection.
