extended tailpiece?

I recently replaced a bath vanity. It's made of the made-made marble looking material. The tailpieces I tried, barely have enough thread for the nut to catch. I can't use any washers or seals plus I need to flip the nut so the unflanged side catches the threads. This of course, will leak.

Do they make tailpieces with extended thread pieces?
Am I doing something wrong?

thanks in advance,

Mel

I had a problem like that once. When I looked more closely at the tail piece, some of the threads had snapped off. How many inches of threads are there?

Not sure . It's at a vacation home so I can't look at it now.
