Question

I just received a call from my aunt who lives in a trailer, it was -18 last night and her pipes are frozen. She has heat tape around the pipes which usually takes care of this problem but it didn't stop them from freezing last night. How can she get these pipes thawed out and is there anything she can do to prevent this from happening again? Thank you. Pat

Pat,

Just one way but you can try thawing them out with a hair dryer.

To prevent reoccurance, do two things: (1) Insulate these pipes as best you can, and (2) next time very cold weather is predicted, let your faucet drip all night.

Smile Also

And if anybody mentions using a blow torch, don't do it.
