(Yet another) Valve issue

I need advise.

I was cruising right along tonight hooking up a shower valve and hit a wall. Here is the valve:
Moen Moentrol Pressure Balancing Rough-In Valve with Stops (1/2" CC

My problem is I cant seem to get the joint hot enough on the horizontal hot/cold inlets of the valve. It seems that there is just too much brass mass surrounding the inlet thats sucking the heat away too fast for my propane torch.

Is there a good technique for addressing this?
Or, I also have a Mapp torch out in the shop that I think the hoses are still good on it, not sure though.
Or is there a better propane torch to try?

I have removed all the internal components (cartridge, stops, etc.) to get more serious about the heat.

I'm just not sure what to do next short of running the valve over to the plumbing shop. I just dont want this thing holding pressure just long enough for me to get the wall finished

Thanks

Got it.
I changed propane tips and then realized I could get heat in through the check stop openings.
Movin on to the next dilemma
