Pipe noise associated with sprinkler system

Automatic sprinkler system comes on and we hear a massive banging in the house water system including the under sink reverse osmosis sytsem beating itself against the wall. This lasts for 10-20 seconds then stops. When I put a pressure gauge on the outside bib the hosue water pressure reads approx 55 psi, when the auto sprinkler comes on, the psi shoots to 160-180, then flucuates between 60-80 psi, (this is when the noise ends) before leveling at around 30-40 psi as the system cycles thru the various syphon valves. I replaced the pressure regulator and the 1st syphon valve with no results. Any thoughts before a drop a dime and call an expert?
Thanks,
Mike

Do you see water leaving the heads before the noise stops? Open the hose bib, then start the sprinkler. Does it still happen. Back pressure is being created somewhere for those 20 seconds.
