Clogged Hand-Held Shower Head
#1

I have a hand-held shower head that appears to be clogged. The shower head has several settings that range from full spray, message, or a stream from the middle. The stream from the middle is the only one working although it is weak. The other settings only allow very, very small amounts of water to come out. I have tried soaking the head in CLR and have also tried a vinegar and water solution with no success. I have two bathrooms side by side, but the other shower is working fine. Sometimes, if I don't use the shower head for a few days, then turn it on, the water will spray out for a quick second and then go back to a trickle. What can I do to fix this shower head?

Soak the showerhead overnight in pure vinegar (don't mix water with it, that just dilutes it and defeats its purpose).
If that doesn't do it, it may have debris in it beyond hard mineral clogs, and you can take it off and try to shake/flush it out.
(With the "hand-held" disconnected, run the shower to check to see if the pressure is normal.)
If the above doesn't work, you may just have to replace it.
Let us know how it comes out. Good Luck!

I tried soaking in straight vinegar overnight. When I turned on the water, it worked for a couple seconds and clogged up again. I think there is something in the line. I took your suggestion and removed the hand held shower head and the water came out of the shower just fine. I think I am going to just by a new hand held shower head. Thanks for you help. I didn't realize how easy it was to remove the hand held part. Thanks again.
