Sink drain pipe won't line up with wall drain pipe

The original pipe from the wall will not match up with the new drain pipe. What's the best way of connecting these two?

Cut the trap off. Glue a 22 or 45 on the pipe out the wall then swing the trap to meet tail piece. Possibly use a p trap instead.

How about a Fernco

Instead of a rigid 22 or 45 you might consider a Fernco. It offers better fitting options.

Agreed, cut the trap off at the wall (leaving as much pipe sticking out of the wall as possible). Bring the photo and the discarded trap to your local plumbing or hardware store and ask for help.

They will help you find all the pieces needed to hook it up. You can use either cemented fittings (like you have here), or it will likely be easier to use slip connectors where you just hand tighten each.
