New cast iron drains

Is anyone imstalling cast iron drains? I watched an episode of TOH last night and hubless cast iron drains were being installed in the house being renovated. not just the main but all the drains! i didn't think anyone was using cast iron anymore.

The TOH plumber, Rich Trethouy mumbled something about not hearing water gurgle in the pipes they way it does in PVC. Cast iron has to be way more expensive in material and labor compared to PVC. This is a house in an earthquake zone. Is cast iron less likely to fail under stress?

Cast iron drains are used a lot out here in california. Mostly for hot mop pans, but also used with liners.
