Question Toilet Distance from Wall Question

I bought 2 toilets that require a distance from the wall to the floor bolts of 12 inches. I successfully installed one in my bathroom. I am now getting ready to install one in my daughter's bathroom. When I measured the distance from the wall in that bathroom, it was only 11.5 inches. Can I still install the 12 inch toilet there???

Yes it should fit. Toilet usually have a 1" gap from tank to wall. You should have a 1/2". It should state dimensions in the instructions.

On the toilet that I already installed there is about a 2 inch gap between the tank, with the top on, and the wall--probably because I am taking out old toilets and putting in water saving ones. The manufacturer, American Standard, says I have to go to a 10 inch rough in, but I found that hard to believe. If that rough-in distance is just for tank clearance, I am probably in good shape.

Yes its just tank clearance. If its the same toilet and you have two inches on the first toilet you will be good to go.

Good luck.
