Well I had gone to bed with the idea I was going
to have to tear out the foam insulation around my pipes
or tear up some floor boards to get them to thaw out.
We left the faucets open all night and kept the
space heater running in the well.
We woke up this morning to "drip, drip, drip"!
Whew! The pipes are thawed and I am going to put 3
feet of old hay over the top of the well cover.
Never did find out of the pipes were froze in the
well hole or near or under the house. But I'm not
complaining. Thanks for all the help Old Guy.
That's three times now on the Do it yourself
web site that I was able to get help and save a bundle
from nor having to call either a plumber or take
my car to the shop. This site is wirth it's weight
in gold!!

Cool

Jim,
With the extreme cold you're having there, I would still put a light bulb or heat lamp down in the well with that pump and pipes, and leave water dripping.
Insulating the well cover with hay will help hold the heat in, too. Good idea.
Good Luck!
Mike
