Question Connecting PVC to Brass

I'm installing a brass backflow preventer on my irrigation system, and the other pipes are PVC.

How do I connect male PVC to female brass? Do I need any special fittings, or just screw the PVC into the brass?

Should I use teflon tape or pipe dope?

Thanks.

You're headed the right direction with threaded fittings. I'd use teflon tape and stay away from pipe dope for an irrigation system. You don't want any left over dope to clog the sprinkler heads. Tighten the connection tight - but not too tight. You can pretty easily split the PVC if you tighten too much.
