Silent backflow / check valve?
We have a lift station/pump in our basement with a standard backflow/check valve.
Every time the pump runs it makes the sound of a car door slamming.
Are there any valves I can ask the plumber about that would be "silent" or much quieter?

Hi,
You can add a check valve at the top of the line where it starts to go horizontal. The sound is waste water coming back down after the pump shut off, and slaming the check valve that is down by the pump. Like I said a additional check valve should reduce it significantly.
To verify listen when the pump shuts off. Does the sound happen a mere second after?

Very good idea on changing the placement of the valve. Didn't think about that. So possibly getting a quieter valve and just moving it closer to the elbow should work? Or are you saying just put in a second one? Any issues with having 2 check valves?
