Old Shower Valves

Hi everyone,

I have a townhouse that was built in the early 80s and I need to get some rebuild kits for the shower valves (and hopefully some new trim kits) but they have no brand markings any where on them.

I was hoping someone could help me identify. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Hi,

I will look around. It looks like Delta but cant be sure. It may take a few days for me to search around.

Although you may find the internal parts, I highly doubt you will find any trim kit.

Also without even searching I could almost garantee those parts will be pricey........$$$$$

Thanks Mike. I think you might be right with Delta just because the other bath faucets are delta (or were before I changed them) but that didn't guarantee that those were original.

If the rebuild kit is expensive, do you think I could just get matching rubber washers to the ones I would pull out to help stop the dripping from the temp adjustment? Or might I be hard pressed to find matching items?

Those are thermostatic valves. Its a whole complicated cartridge assembly. Not just washers you can replace. Its not like a standard diverter.

Uhh... Thanks for the info. I guess I might need to look into a total replacement then.

Well just give me a day or two.

Hey what will help is more info. You did say the sinks were Delta originally? Couls you remember if the handles on the sink matched the shower?

They are good diverters. I would in no way change them if it were mine. Thats just me though.

Yr of home was early 80's you say?

Just trying to confirm.

Yes the sink faucets were delta but they did not match. They were the standard delta with the "crystal" single handles.

Yeah it was built in 1982 we think, but the complex was built from the late 70s to early 80s and we can't get a straight answer on the exact date.

Hi.

Here is the ESCUTCHEON. They make a 5 1/2 and a 4 1/2. I believe you have the 4 1/2.

Faucet parts

Clear handle or smoked. I think you have a combo of both.

Cartridge. I think you have the 4 1/2 length. There is a 6 1/2 also. measure when you take apart.

You can get a whole kit here with everything. I think the escutchen is different though.

I would call them to verify... And possibly get the right escutchen in thier kit.

Good luck.
