breaking and re-glueing abs pipe joints
#1
How do you break an abs pipe joint so that it can be re-glued correctly?
I'm trying to repair a laundy stack drain that I built that has worked fine for about a month, but excessive vibration from the washing machine drain hose has cause a leak in the p-trap joint on the stack drain.
Thanks in advance.

You "break" the joints with a hacksaw or Sawzall, and replace the parts as needed. Once glued, ABS fittings are not worth trying to reuse. New ones are just too cheap. My suggestion is that you build the drain and anchor it securely to the wall, especially at the top of the standpipe so the vibrations of the drain hose will have no effect on the joints of the drain.
