New House - Plumbing noises

Hi - I've just moved in to a new house and there are a few plumbing noises that are concerning me. If I use the hot water in either of the master bathroom sinks there is a knocking noise in the wall.

If I use any water for more than a few minutes there is a knocking in basement ceiling. Also sometimes there is a ticking noise when water is used in the kitchen (also in the basement ceiling/living room floor).

Any ideas? I'm having the plumber come back to finish the last trim install so I want to make sure I'm asking him the right questions or giving him the right info. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Welcome to the forums.

Does the knocking noise happen when the water is running or when you turn it off?

The ticking noise if from the pipe expanding from the heat of the hot water. If you can locate exactly where this is happening, you can shove something like thin plastic between the pipe and wood. You can also use a different way to secure the pipe that holds it away from the wood.
