Strength of PVC

Outside of Plumbing question; I am interested in peoples opinions of the relative strength of Sch 40 PVC when compared to PVC electrical conduit in the same size.

I am planning a rack for the garage wall to hang a Thule Cargo box when not in use on my vehicle. The piping would be 3 foot sections attaching with "U" clamps to 3 studs, left, right and middle horizontally. There would be 2 parallel sections for a 4 point attachment from the box.

Electrical conduit seems to bend more that Sch 40 PVC for plumbing but this project of mine is not normal usage for either of them.

Not sure if it's true now, but 10 yrs ago I was told the only diff between them was the UV protectant and color for plumbing PVC.

I can't imagine you'd have any problem with either one when you only have 16" between supports.
