pump septic tank?

When I run the washing machine and it spins out the toilet backs up, does this mean I need to pump the septic tank?

When was the last time you did it? If there are not blockages in the drain line then it is possible. Do you know where your clean out is located?

Pumping the septic tank is usually the first step to determine where the blockage may be. Once pumped if its determined that you still have a blockage then snaking the line would be in order.

There are other possibilities, such as a failed leach field but lets wait and see. Post back so we know what they find.

Ok so to say how this ended up I decided to run a snake down the line first due to cost,(snake was $27 and to pump the tank was $275). I think I lucked out on this on because I did hit some type of blockage and did not need to pump the tank. Thanks for your help guys.

You may have fixed your issue but your just asking for trouble if the septic has not been pumped in 6 yrs.

This is usually how solids start getting out to the leach field. Its just good prevrnitive maintainance.

If and when yours fails, and you price a new system you will kick yourself....
