smelly washer on new sink strainer
The title describes the situation, mostly.
I'm in the midst of a kitchen update: new cabinets, floors, appliances, paint.
I picked up a new sink strainer (?-the part that goes through the hole at the bottom of the sink, and connects to the tailpiece). It looks okay, and dry fits okay, but the rubber washer SMELLS!! It smells like, well, new neoprene/ rubber (like a new wetsuit).
Is this normal? The last strainer that I handled was 25+ years ago, and I don't remember. Will the smell go away after installation, or should I get another strainer?? I'd hate to have the sink or the sink base cabinet smell like a tire.
Thanks in advance.
