Does the humming only happen when the shower and dishwasher are operating at the same time? Or does independent operation of either cause the humming?

Get a water pressure gauge and test your pressure, this one attaches to a hose bibb outside. if it reads 80lbs of higher then you need a pressure reducing valve With high water pressure, when water can move fast in the water pipes, it creates friction, in-turn makes sounds, this is increased noise when hot water is in use, then when the gets to the valve, i.e. shower, dishwasher, and it flows though the smaller passage ways of the valve, makes increased louder noises.
