Unhappy

PLEASE HELP!!! I was just down my basement & my sump pump is constantly pumping & there is very little water in it. I've never even heard it pump before & now it won't stop. My house is only 6 1/2 yrs old. I don't know what to do, so I just unplugged it. I did take a little shovel & try to clear around everything, but it didn't work. PLEASE HELP!! Thanks, Mary

Cool

Don't panic, Mary. It's just hung up with a little debris or corrosion.
Clean it up good while unplugged, clean out sump, spray WD-40 on the float, and it should be o.k.
Good Luck!

Unhappy sump pump

Ok oldguy, I tried that & it's still chugging. I don't see much more gunk in there. Also, I don't see a 'float'. Everything is attached to the bottom. Do you think I should just pour a small bucket of water in it to see if it will flush out? Any other suggestions? Could the pipe to outside get clogged? HELP! Thanks again
