Garbeurator removal tips?

So, wife and I have decided that we'd like to get rid of this damn thing.

We both hate the sound it makes. We never use it. A friend of ours has told us they aren't good for the environment, but I can't say I know this for fact or not.

Just wondering if anyone has tips for removal. I think it's just plugged in to an outlet under the sink (i.e. not hardwired), however the outlet appears to be connected to a wall switch. are there any tricks to connecting the drain to our existing drain in the other sink? We have one larger sink and one smaller one that the garbeurator is on.

The brand on this thing says "Insinkerator" on it.

I have no clue to what I'm doing when it comes to plumbing. I'd like to break my rule of "If I can burn the house down, or flood it, I'm not touching it".

Ha! If I was just one IQ point smarter, I'd have done a search for this!

Thanks Furd! I love this place.
