Installing sink in garage help needed please

I want to install a sink in my garage and have found the pipes to the washing machine are behind the wall where the sink will go. I pulled some drywall off and I can see the hot and cold and the drain pipe for the washer. There is a metal P trap (it looks like copper). How would I attach the drain from the sink into the down pipe? Can I simply add a sloping T? I read somewhere I would also need to vent the drain from the sink to make sure the waste water from the washer doesn't back up into the sink?

Thanks

Gary

If you could take a pic of what you see that will help. If the washer drains into a vented line then you need a combination fitting or set it up in a way for a dual sink set up that allows proper venting.

Read post #8 here. Hope this helps clarify. Of course you will need 2" arms off the vent. You will need to busch down the sink arm to 1 1/2".

I think I understand but it's more work than I want. I think I will just put a 5 gallon bucket under the sink and empty it when it's full. I found a flexible rubber tee but it is 1.5" and the copper drain is 1.25". I can get reducers from 1.5 to 1.25 but I don't have a lot of room.

Thanks

Drain position

Here's another idea....could I put the Tee fitting for the garage sink above the p trap for the washing machine or does it have to be below it?

Thanks
