Question Plastic shower arm broke, need help finding a way to remove it

While we were housesitting, the plastic shower arm broke off in the shower. We saw a recommendation to use a 10" file and hammer it in and try to turn it out, but that didn't work. It took chunks out of the plastic. I don't think we can get the file in far enough as the pipe seems short up to the elbow.
Are there any other recommendations that would work for removing a plastic shower arm?
We are desperate to get this fixed before the owners come back. Although, it really is not our fault that this broke off, we will be blamed for it, so we would rather try to fix it before they arrive next week. There is no access to the pipes from behind, and we can't start ripping walls apart...

Welcome to the forums.

I'm not a plumber and I've never seen a plastic shower arm.

You'll need an extractor bit to remove that pipe. I'm not sure what stores are in your area but I left a link to what you need. A hardware store would probably have them or even a plumbing supply. They are turnd into the pipe with a wrench. They bite in and grip the inside of the pipe for removal.

Five piece plumbers extractor kit
