I may have broken my Double Check Valve Assembly

Hello,

When I first moved into my home I had to turn the water to my house on. Seemed simple, go to the left of my house to the box labeled water meter. Well the box labeled water meter was my Double Check Valve Assembly and since I had never seen either a water meter or a double check valve I tried to turn it "on". (I know, dumb move)

Now I see the error of my ways after actually finding the water meter but in the mean time I broke the little blue shut off handle off my valve and I have no idea if its opened or closed or what I might have messed up.

Attached is some info on my valve.

I have tried to explain the situation to a plummer and irrigation company both both just want to replace the valve.

If you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated!!!

Welcome to the forums.

Did the nut come off the handle or did the handle break in two ?

There is a flat or flats on the shaft where the handle goes.....just match them to the other valve or remove the nut from the good valve and move the handle to determine if the valve is open or closed.

It broke off but I wouldn't call it in two, just kinda bent. I will try this, thank you for your help!
