Symmons Temptrol model A flow control stuck

Okay I know there are other threads about Symmons flow (/diverter) valves being stuck but my situation is a little different! I'm not trying to *remove* the flow valve, just turn it.

The valve in question has been installed but unused for several years. We now want to use the shower it's installed in, but the flow control valve won't move! It's kind of tough to take a shower when only a trickle of water comes out.

The handle on the valve is plastic and I'm sure if I force it enough it'll break. Is there any trick to getting these things loose?

Hi. It been a long time sense I worked on one of those valves but I remember that on the front of the valve there is a set screw that contol hot water flow it keeps the valve from turning. Maybe it is turned down to tight. Try to research the valve and get a break down to locate the set screw.
