Dirty Ice

As the ice cubes melt in a glass (from my ice maker) white stuff settles in the bottom of the glass. I have installed a new GE inline water filter but it has not helped. The refrigerator is a Maytag, model MTB 2455 (Top Mount). The ice maker is an original factory unit that was ordered with the refrigerator. Unit is about 1.5 years old.

The water line leading to the ice maker appears to bypass the water softener and water heater. Water is hard.

Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.

When you installed the new in-line filter, did you empty the ice cube bucket after two new batches of ice cubes, to make sure you were getting only ice from filtered water?

Dirty Ice

I didn't flush the line, but I have emptied about 10 bins of ice since the new filter was installed.
