Singing pipes

Whenever we turn on water in the house, the pipes sing, a loud whistling noise. What causes this and how can I fix it?

Sounds like its the meter or a pressure reducer valve gone bad. Rarely the meter but it can happen...Especially if it happens from any faucet in the home.

Well or city water?
Both can be check with a pressure gauge, no need for more then 60 PSI.
