I need to install a disconnect switch near an irrigation pump that I"m installing. Any suggestions as to what type I should use? The wire running to the pump has two hot leads and a ground wire. Thanks for any feedback.

I'm not an electrician, but since you're installing a 220v pump, I would use the same amp cut-off as the pump requires as a circuit breaker at the panel (probably a double-pole 30 amp?).
You might want to post this ? over in the Electric forum, and tell them the distance from panel to pump, etc., so that one of the electrical pros over there can advise you on the whole thing.
A GFCI is probably code-required since it is outdoor wiring.
Good Luck!
