Question meter location

I will be running a 2" HDPE line for about 600 feet to my home from the connection to a 6" main. I am limited to a 3/4" meter. Regarding pressure loss, does it make any difference where the meter is located on the 2" line?

Welcome to the forums!

The utility usually supplies the meter and dictates where it is to be set - better check with them.

My utility allows that the meter can be placed anywhere that I desire if it's "reasonable."

Since you will probably running 3/4" pipe in the house it would seem to me to keep the meter as close as possible to the house. In my opinion....just inside the house would be ideal.

Do they read the meter electronically? If so, I would do as PJ says, and install it as close to or inside the house as possible. Necking it down too early may be counterproductive, don't know for sure. Mike will chime in with his idea, I'm sure.

Yes I would say as close to the house.... Gets the volume there. Why neck down 2" water line...Thats counter productive IMO
