Did I use the right compression

I installed a whole house filter that had 3/4" female inlets.

I used a compression fitting x2: 7/8 in OD x 3/4 in MIP

Was this the proper fitting, seeing I realize MIP stands for Male IRON pipethreads, and I applied it to the plastic filter (with teflon tape), maybe it was not the right fitting.

And about the ferrules. I bought an extra bag of ferrules thinking they were the exact replacement but further inspection shows the sleeve in the fittings look different than the ferruls I bought.

THe fitting was:

Watts LFA-524

the ferrules I bought were:
Watts A-502

The sleeve in the fitting is flatter where the ferrules in the seperate pack are tapered like you would expect.

The male pipe thread will be fine.
Those ferrules will also work.
If it's not leaking forget about it.
I'd have used dope not tape.

Thanks.

The thing is it was leaking a bit when I first turned the water back on. I snugged up on it just ever so slightly and it stopped and has been fine. But it was just a hair bit more that I tightened it, I could have reefed much more on them if I wanted too. Seemed kinda of weird.

I bought the ferrules and replacement just in case. Are fittings like this able to get loose over time or is it pretty much not leaking now its generally the right amount of 'tight'.

They should never loosen up.
