Shower mixer will not stay up due to low pressure. What can I use?

Hi - I have a problem with the valve that is used to turn the shower on as it won't stay up due to low pressure. Attached photos.

Anyone have a suggestion what I can use to keep the mixer stopper up? I was previously using a bit of old wood that has been thrown away.

I also want to eventually replace the shower. Does anyone have a suggestion of what type I would need with low pressure and also I have a combo boiler.

Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the forums!

I'm also plagued with low water pressure [live on top of a tall hill] but apparently not as low as what you typically have. Why is your pressure so low? city or well water? Have you used a gauge to find out exactly how much pressure you have? You might consider installing a booster pump. I found that one of those little water saver shower heads helps a little.
IMO if there isn't enough pressure to hold the valve up - there isn't enough to take a shower
